CROSS-CULTURAL ADAPTATION OF THE POSITIVE MENTAL HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE FOR NURSING STUDENTS IN THE BRAZILIAN CONTEXT

ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the cross-cultural adaptation process of Positive Mental Health Questionnaire for undergraduate Nursing students, in Brazilian context. Method: a psychometric study conducted public universities Rio de Janeiro/Brazil, between October 2019 and July 2020. The transcultural encompassed following stages: translation; reconciliation; back-translation; independent reviews by committee reviewers; pre-completion; completion; harmonization; formatting review; cognitive test with 31 students from two universities; analysis comments. Results: lasted approximately ten months, initial translations, carried out independently translators, achieved close versions; none translators reported difficulties translating meanings items. version instrument maintained conceptual, semantic, idiomatic, experimental equivalences. mean content validity ratio values clarity, relevance, pertinence, theoretical dimension were higher than established; assessment target audience showed good understanding. Conclusion: - equivalence original version, developed Spain, presented satisfactory evidence use Brazil, being easy-to-understand audience.
